Begin Booking Aulani Resort in Hawaii

by Tim_Jones on July 28, 2010

Last week, we got a glimpse of one of the most anticipated new Disney Vacation Club properties, Aulani in Ko Olina, Hawaii.  The Disney Parks blog posted just one pic of the resort construction in progress.

Disney Aulani Resort

The resort will accept it's first guests in August of 2011, but you can already start booking rooms and villas at this new DVC resort starting August 2 of this year!!  You can also begin purchasing real estate interest in Aulani at Disney Vacation Club.

Having just returned from our own Hawaiian vacation, I can say that we are very excited to go back and experience Hawaii with a bit of Disney thrown in.  Locals have said that Disney has done an excellent job embracing the local culture, taking caution not to "Disne-fy" the islands.

I'm glad.  One of the things I loved about Hawaii was that it felt like you were going to a new country, not just another state.  For me, this was mainly due to the way Hawaiians have maintained so much of their culture and traditions.  Also, much of Hawaii remains undeveloped and adds to the feeling that you're on a real adventure, even though "civilization" may only be a few miles or yards away.

Are you planning to go on a Disney Hawaiian vacation in 2011?  Let us know what you think about this new resort in the comments, below.

People here are generally excited about the new Disney Resort. As you said, I don’t think it will “disney-ify” the islands so much as bring a bit of Disney fun and charm to what is already a great vacation destination. I think people will really like it (I know I will)!
