As if you hadn't gathered from the name, this Disney resort has a lot of New Orleans flavor with a focus on Mardi Gras.
Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter is a Moderate resort included in the "Downtown Disney" resort area. In fact, you can take a boat ride from French Quarter to the Downtown Disney area, as well as many other Downtown Disney resorts, including Saratoga Springs, Port Orleans - Riverside, and Old Key West.
As opposed to Port Orleans - Riverside, the French Quarter resort does not have a sit-down dining restaurant; only a food court.
The pool is very cool, with lots of New Orleans-style entertainment and theming.
There are lots of open areas in Port Orleans - French Quarter to relax, read a book, etc.
The rooms at Port Orleans - French Quarter are a nice step up from Disney's Value resorts and I really like the feel of this resort. However, if I were going to step up to moderate, this would not be my first choice -- mainly due to the lack of sit-down dining and I just like other Moderate resorts (Caribbean Beach, for one), better.
Room rates average $190/night, year-round. Remember, the average room rate will be higher in the busy season and less during Disney's "value" season.
A good Moderate resort option, but if you're going to bump up to Moderate, we'd recommend going with Caribbean Beach, Port Orleans - Riverside, or Coronado Springs before the French Quarter.
