This whole week, we'll be touring some of Disney World's resorts! We'll start today with Disney's Polynesian, look at Boardwalk, Wilderness Lodge, and others throughout the week.
Disney's Polynesian resort is one of our favorites! It's also one of the most expensive resorts at Disney World, as it's on the monorail circuit for the Magic Kingdom. :(
This resort features a "Polynesian" island theme with a "volcanic" pool area, lots of tropical landscaping, hammocks on the beach, waterfalls everywhere, and Lilo and Stitch!
Upon entering Disney's Polynesian, you're immediately greeted with a huge waterfall feature that occupies nearly the entire lobby.
In the lobby, you'll also have the opportunity to get a lei, there's children's entertainment to the left of the entrance, and shopping, of course. Also, while checking in, be sure to look at the artwork hanging on the wall behind the Disney Cast Member checking you in -- there's a Hidden Mickey in every one!
Disney's Polynesian has an amazing pool with a volcano that spews "lava" in the form of water down into the pool. It's a zero-entry pool (also known as a beach entry), so your can sit on the edge while your little ones play in the shallow water at the entry.
The Polynesian also houses one of our favorite restaurants on Disney property, 'OHana! 'OHana features Hawaiian barbeque food with some of your favorite Disney characters, including Lilo and Stitch!
The food at 'OHana is amazing! All-you-can-eat turkey, chicken, pork, and more for dinner and they have a great Disney character breakfast. Activities for the kids continue throughout the meals and you look out over the 7-Seas Lagoon. Time your dinner right and you may see the Seven Seas Lagoon Parade or the Magic Kingdom fireworks!
The Polynesian also has the Kona Cafe and a quick-service dining area for all your eating needs.
Disney's Polynesian also has a small Wyland gallery, if you feel the need to pick up some magnificent Polynesian artwork during your vacation.
As we noted, above, Disney's Polynesian is also on the monorail circuit for Magic Kingdom, so it's very easy to travel to Magic Kingdom or Epcot by monorail -- and fast, too!
Here's a quick view of the outside of the rooms at Polynesian.
You'll notice in the last photo that the second floor does not have a balcony. This is due to a Polynesian superstition, so certain buildings do not have a balcony on the second floor. This is something to check with your travel agent or Disney when booking your Disney vacation!
You may remember our post a while back about the Polynesian's Neverland Club for kids, too. This is another great feature of the Polynesian with a very special location for your kids to have a great time on their Disney World vacation.
Overall, if you want to splurge on a Disney World vacation, the Polynesian receives our highest recommendation. It's an amazing resort and tons of fun for the whole family!
Be sure to check out our Flickr Polynesian set for more photos of this resort.
