The Polynesian is one of our favorite resorts at the Walt Disney World Resort. It's on the Magic Kingdom monorail loop, it has a beautiful beach, lots of hammocks, great restaurants, and a fantastic swimming pool.
We really love the main swimming pool at the Polynesian. The pool has a zero-entry or beach entry on the side nearest the beach. This means you can just walk into the pool without the use of a ladder or diving in. This creates a nice shallow area for toddlers to play in the water while still remaining close to Mom and Dad in the lounge chairs.
As with all Moderate and Deluxe resorts, the Polynesian swimming pool has an amazing slide that looks like it's inside an old volcanic mountain. The mountain alone creates a spectacular visual for the swimming pool, but Disney also designed it to cause a waterfall of "lava" into the pool from the high mountain top.
Although the Polynesian maintains several pools throughout the property, we would agree that the main pool is a bit small, especially for a Deluxe resort. The visual images and slide are fantastic, it can just become a little crowded, especially in the summer. Get out there early and claim your spot!
