Welcome back!
One of the easiest and often over-looked ways to save money on your Disney vacation is to pack carefully!
I have literally spent hundreds of dollars on a Disney vacation that I didn't need to spend because I forgot something at home. Here's some of the more common items forgotten.
- Toiletries -- I've brought my razor and forgot shaving cream or vice-versa. Toothbrush, no toothpaste. Feminine items. You get the idea.
- First-aid items -- my daughter will scream bloody murder over a minor scratch, but a band-aid will take it all away. These are things I always have at home, but seldom remember to bring on vacation and they cost a small fortune, even at a Walgreen's. Inevitably, I end up with 14 boxes of band-aids at home from buying them while on vacation. Just pack them up with your luggage.
- Medicine -- Wow! This one can add up fast! I've spent an easy $100 on cold medicines while at Disney. Of course, it's always stuff I have sitting at home. You never know when that bug your child picked up at school is going to kick in.
- Chargers -- Just recently, I was at Disney and realized I had left my camera charger at home. I figured the battery would probably last, as it was a short trip. Nope. Battery died shortly after realizing I left the charger at home. $50 later, I had a new charger, but was out an unnecessary $50. Cameras, iPods, cell phones, laptops -- remember to pack all these chargers when you get ready to go to Disney. You don't want to miss that picture and you sure don't need to spend an extra $50 for a charger you don't need.
- Disk readers -- For one of my cameras (a Sony -- darn proprietary media cards), I need a disk reader for the camera disk. Don't forget this one at home.
- Extra batteries -- Again, one of those things you have and can get at home for much less than at Disney.
- Sunscreen -- Even living in Florida and knowing the value of sunscreen, we inevitably forget this one. Our sunscreen basket is filled with $10 bottles of sunscreen we bought while on a Disney vacation because we forgot ours at home.
Don't wait until the last minute to pack. Take your time, start early, and make a list. This little effort and planning can save you hundreds of dollars on your Disney vacation.
