Welcome back!
A couple days ago, you saw our video tour of Pleasure Island. What you did not see was the XShot Pix we used to film the video. An XShot is like a retractable golf club with a tripod attachment on the end. It extends out, with your camera attached, so you can take pictures of yourself, the whole family, and video, too!
I've received no payment from XShot to write this post (other than the XShot itself), I just think it's a great tool for Disney visitors! How great would it be not to have to depend on a PhotoPass to get a picture of the whole family? Or, take that ride video?
The XShot also works great as a monopod to steady your shot. I find this very useful with the small, point-and-shoot cameras for which the XShot was designed. I have a hard time keeping a P&S steady, so I keep it attached to the XShot all the time and just rest it on something to steady the shot. When collapsed, it actually fits in my back pocket with just a little of the XShot sticking out.
Also, there are no problems with security at Disney World. I walked right through the no bag section with two security guards and an Osceola County deputy standing there without a single question. I was actually a little concerned, just because it's new, unusual-looking and shaped a little like a club, but no problem, at all.

One of the few suggestions I’ve heard to better the XShot has been to make the handle a tripod, so you can set the XShot down and use it like a tripod with an extension. Personally, I don’t see the need. If I need a tripod, I’ll use a tripod. This was specifically designed to use for self-photos and video. It takes your own picture, so that you don’t have to use a tripod to set up the camera, the timer, and then run to get in front of the camera. I can understand that this requires a second “tool” when you are in the parks.
I am really looking forward to using this new toy in the parks. Now, I can get tons of pics with the whole family. You will see lots of new pics and video taken with the XShot on here, too.
